Defense KATA
_
Stand in a free ready to fight position. Feet are separated and legs slightly flexed in the knees, arms straightened to the front ready for attack and defense punching. For a short moment relax all the muscles of the body. Feel like in the aura of the body (pores of the skin) there are holes that open, and through them energy from the outer space starts flowing inside the body through thin radial straight rays of 30-40 cm in length. If the master is skilled enough as to maintain the sans-field, then the length of these straight rays can reach even few meters. The body should be felt as if it was a uniform dense mass of corpuscles. After relaxing it’s important to perform a sudden sharp squeezing of all body tissues, as if you were reducing its volume all over. With the rays sansa receives an impulse of a reversed current. An immediate expulsion of energy to the outer space in all the directions takes place. The squeezing goes together with an exhalation with a sound «HA», mouth and lips open with tension, arms move doing a jolt of half of a punch. Change position of the feet with a leap. Then repeat a short relaxation and next squeeze. Repeat this sequence during 2-3 minutes. While keeping the overall expulsion of energy, enhance this exercise adding a rhythmical sequence: contracting the body with the priority expulsion of sansa through axial channel of the body via Adjna (center of the forehead –third eye). In this case you start squeezing the muscles from the feet, then buttock, low belly, then –back, chest, shoulders zone, neck. In the upper part of the skull create a sans barrier, better a counter flow from Sahasrara to Adjna. After performing sequence of contractions in the low part of the belly, you can feel or imagine a concentrated little pillar of sansa in the area of Manipura chakra. As you keep contracting, this pillar grows bigger and flows through the neck to Adjna, gets out as a single ray of width and length big enough for the master. Then Adjna-ray is sent to the Adjna chakra of the partner (enemy). Partial expulsions of sansa directed to the partner can be conducted via Manipura and Anahata. In this case the contraction grows bigger and flows through the neck to Adjna, gets out as a single ray of width and length big enough for the master.
Objective of the kata: via active spreading of sansa over the complete perimeter of the body aura, destroy alien sans-willful influences that exist towards the one that conducts the kata, cleansing of his energetic system. Through cleansing of Adjna it’s possible to hit the center of the will of the enemy (negative energy, energy of illness and misfortune), his extenuation and abandoning of the fight due to feeling of fear. General meditation while performing “Defense kata” consists of generating inside oneself a state of internal fire. Mentally repeat affirmation that goes like this: «Good bye, failures, disgrace, all negative things, evil, illnesses, misfortune. I apart myself from you, I do not want to feed you with my energy any more, don’t want to give you my life, my attention, thus destroying myself and making my destiny miserable.» Besides the contractions this kata can also be performed via shiver of short vibrations together with a long dosed exhalation.

KATA OF BREATHING
_ Person absorbs sansa from the surrounding space via
contemplations, emotional reactions, sexual interaction, nutrition and
breathing. Only the breathing method of
sansa intake is regular, functioning incessantly day and night, which ascribes
to its special significance and particularity. All major psycho-energetic
schools pay special attention to teaching their adepts skills of “correct breathing”.
The main idea here is to breathe not just air, which is only the surface
breathing, but to learn to correctly breathe cosmic energy. Indian yoga devotes a special topic to this, whose general title
is “Pranayama – breathing prana”. There
you can find many subtle observations and interesting advice on methods of
sansa breathing. However, since
end-goals of traditional yogis and karateks are far from identical, the Dao Yin Yang School does
not practice pure pranayama, although we do have pure exercises quite similar
in nature to this system. Just like with
all the other katas, breathing kata must be learned under tutor’s supervision.
When teaching, the Sensei (teacher) establishes telepathic sans-contact with
each student and observes all sansa changes in their bodies, which allows him
to provide concrete and most effective instructions. This kata begins with classic breathing with the belly. It is
performed while standing, seated or lying down – just like all the other types
of breathing. During inhalation consciousness first fixates on widening upper
chest, then lower chest, then enlarging the stomach. Short pause; then
exhalation is performed in the opposite muscular order: stomach is squeezed,
then diaphragm, then chest, then throat. The goal is to feel how sansa is entering body with the air (like
a swarm of particles). This flow moves
through the throat to the lungs, then penetrates diaphragm and colon. Naturally, air itself stays in the lungs. The flow must be directed either to manipura
(solar plexus area) or muladhara (area of coccyx), where sansa should be
preserved and concentrated. While holding the breath, sansa flow should be
activated; then during exhalation one should mentally close the channels to
prevent the reverse flow. Do this for two minutes. If inhaling via mouth, sansa
moves downward; if inhaling via the nose, flow of sansa splits in two: the main
flow moves downward, whereas the smaller portion proceeds upward from upper
throat to nape and forehead. The same happens during exhalation. When exhaling via the mouth, sansa leftovers
flow from the lungs via mouth almost entirely; whereas when exhaling via nose,
sansa twists upwards to the brain. Therefore, breathing via nose is preferable
for feeding sansa to the brain. Such breathing and sansa concentration in
particular regions will “heat up” these centers (chakras) and stimulate their
inner functioning.
Japanese Aikido karate School teaches its followers a similar
breathing technique. It can be described as follows: “Inhale silver mist and
from the mouth direct it along a straight line to the upper part of the nape,
where we accumulate it with a
concentrated effort; while holding our breath we lower a thin jet of this
silver mist (particles, as we call them,) along the spine to the coccyx, then
with an impulse we send it to the bottom and we repeat this process until this
point starts to burn and pulsate”. Our
addition to this exercise is that in concurrent fashion karatek could also send
another stream of silver mist from his mouth down directly to manipura as well,
this producing the optimal effect of inhalation by closing the energy circle.
CLEANSING BREATHING
This is fast, rhythmic, sharp breathing using mouth without pauses. Predominant flow of sansa hits Anahata chakra (chest chakra), and from there it moves up and down. Sansa of the body is connected with rhythm of breathing and starts changing quickly its movement: from center to periphery, from outer areas to inner areas, etc. The longer you perform this breathing, the more excited is the level of body sansa, which leads to cleansing of sansa structure from alien contacts. Sometimes it is quite effective to increase power of this movement with a general sansa punch.
HOLDING BREATH
It is better to perform this technique while lying down and on exhalation, so that no free sansa would stay inside the lungs. Consciousness permeates the entire body; relax; observe how individual sansa knots and channels behave in conditions of sansa deprivation. Note which parts de-energize simultaneously; which ones are excessively, harmfully active, giving off their sansa to more “willful” centers. You should spread sansa consciously throughout the body, harmonize sansa flows, break apart darkened areas in sansa structure. While holding the breath, notice that some of this work is already taking place automatically. Exposure to deficit of sansa has effect of dissolving sansa structures brought from the outside, they start feeding the natural sansa structure. This is the basis for the healing method of holding the breath. Nonetheless, there is no need to overexert yourself with this excercise– you need to leave enough strength for other practices. Two-three full attempts would be sufficient.
POWER BREATHING
This method is considered introductory stage for learning sans punches. On a deep inhalation arms are laterally raised, followed by deep forceful exhalation via tightly squeezed lips, tensing muscles of stomach, chest, shoulders, and lowering arms down to the ribcage. Sansa, together with air, moves upward but is intercepted at throat chakra. Don’t let it escape through the mouth, so it, being concentrated, will keep moving upwards to the head. As a result, this “power breathing” feeds and cleanses sansa structure of the brain very well. Perform this breathing 5-6 times.
BODY BREATHING
It is well-known that a person also breathes via the skin. Consequently, it’s beneficial to breathe in sansa via different parts of the skin and body. The technique of exercises consists of inhaling while concentrating your attention on a particular part of the body. Then pause to activate sansa flow; followed by exhalation to slow down the flow. Eventually a karatek learns to breathe in sansa using the entire body. You could also use “imaginary inhalation” – contract all the appropriate muscles impulsively, without actual breathing in the air itself, yet sansa will be taken in. Such inhalation could evolve via powerful tension to the level of sans-blow. Imaginary inhalation could also lead to “breathing via bones”, when sansa is pulled in via bones of hands and feet using the entire skeleton, filling and energizing bone marrow, which is useful for opening higher psycho-energetic abilities.
Practicing these exercises of “kata of breathing” helps to awaken karatek’s self-consciousness and facilitates its realization in other, more advanced, truly martial katas. The entire kata should take 15-29 minutes.
